“Nothing is More Important than Children”
Organized by the Cuban Pediatrics Society and the National Groups of Pediatrics and Neonatology, the 25th National Pediatrics Congress and the First International Symposium of Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care will be held in Cuba's Convention Center from October 17-21, 2005.
The event will be held under the auspices of Cuba's Ministry of Public Health, the World Health Organization and the United Nations Childhood Fund. It will include pre-congress courses, lectures, symposia, roundtables, as well as thematic oral presentations and posters.

Publications
The Medical Sciences publishing house recently released Pediatría – Endocrinología ( Pediatrics-Endocrinology ) , the seventh volume of the collection Pediatría ( Pediatrics ). Several topics are covered in the collection written by experienced specialists and prestigious professors.
The present volume's main author is Dr. Frank Carvajal Martínez, Full Professor of Endocrinology, Full Researcher, Second Degree Specialist in Endocrinology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Head of the Pediatric Endocrinology Department of the National Endocrinology Institute.

The recently published Salud para Todos, Sí Es Posible ( Health for All is Possible ) aims to demonstrate how Cuba achieved the high standard of health it enjoys today; the book is dedicated to past, present and future Cuban internationalist health workers.
Salud para Todos, Sí Es Posible looks at health in Cuba from colonial times to the dawn of the new millennium, and includes discussion of how health has historically been viewed in the Americas. Furthermore, the book analyzes the various forms of the Cuban model, and how a Third World nation with limited resources can make health a universal right.
The book's authors include professors, researchers and leaders in public health, many of whom were directly involved in the creation and development of Cuba's National Health System. They are:
Dr. Ernesto de la Torre Montejo -Doctor of Medicine, Specialist in pediatrics and hematology; Consulting Professor and Professor of Merit at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, Havana.
Dr. Miguel Márquez - Doctor and pathologist; Professor of Merit at Cuenca University and the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, Havana.
Dr. Francisco Rojas Ochoa - Doctor of Medicine; Public Health Teacher; Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of Merit at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, Havana; Researcher of Merit, Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment; Member of the Cuban Academy of Science and Honorary member of the Cuban Society of Public Health.
Dr. José A. Gutiérrez Muñiz - Doctor of Medicine; Doctor of Medical Sciences; Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba (1971-1979); Researcher of Merit at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. Consulting Professor at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, Havana. Since 1996 he has directed the project Research on Growth and Development of the Cuban People.
Dr. Cándido López Pardo - Public Health Professor and Doctor of Health Sciences; Professor at the University of Havana; Visiting Professor at the ‘Pedro Kourí' Institute of Tropical Medicine and the National School of Public Health of Cuba. Consultant to the PHO/WHO, UNDP and UNPF. He is a member of the faculty of the Economic Scientific Council and the Center for the Study of Human Health and Welfare at the University of Havana. Award winner of the Cuban Academy of Science.
