My institution has an online subscription to MEDICC Review, but when I click on certain content, I’m being prompted for a log in and password. Why does this happen and what should I do?

When this occurs, it means the IP address for your machine is not being recognized by our server. This failure is caused by either:

  1. Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated;
  2. The person at your institution who activated the online subscription did not enter in all needed IP addresses; or
  3. The person who activated the online subscription does not realize that some subnets of your institution are routed through a proxy server.

If you experience this problem, bring it to the attention of your librarian or send an email to review@medicc.org so we can research what is causing it.

Which computers at my institution can access MEDICC Review?

Any authorized computer (i.e. any computer with IP addresses entered by your librarian or administrator upon subscription activation) within your institution can access MEDICC Review content. There is no limit to the number of users that may connect from authorized computers at any single given institution.

What if I want to access content from a computer not within the institutional network?

Certain MEDICC Review content is offered as full free text. If you wish to access other content, you can subscribe individually or purchase single articles for USD$9.95 by clicking on the article title.

Why is the online version of MEDICC Review free for some countries?

In keeping with MEDICC’s mission to equitably support education and development of human resources in health and our commitment to enhancing cooperation among the US, Cuban, and global health communities, we provide MEDICC Review online free of charge to Global South countries. Subscribers in these countries can also subscribe to the print version for a fee from our subscription page.

Which countries can access MEDICC Review free of charge?

To see the list of developing countries which receive free online access to MEDICC Review, click here.

I reside in one of the developing countries listed with free access to MEDICC Review online, but I can’t access all the content free of charge. Why?

When this happens, it means our server is not recognizing your machine’s IP as originating in a developing country. If you are in a developing country and have created a log in and password and still cannot access the free content, please send an email to review@medicc.org so that we can investigate the problem.
